I have the newest version of avg free. The path you say to put in doesnt work. It doesnt exist. what do you do? the only thing that i can get to work just makes the avg program open it doesnt scan the files |

The correct arguments are as follows. C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgscanx.exe /scan=%1 /clean I just downloaded and tried the EICAR test file and AVG detected it. I hope this helps everyone.  |

DLSB/Options/Virus Scan/Anti-Virus Program Location: C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgscanx.exe and argument: /scan=%file% /clean seems to work with www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm# the avgw. file and argument: /SE %1 or %1 partially worked, but activated extraneous windows |

I’m not sure why my path looks different, but I downloaded AVG Free 8.0. avgscanx.exe works for me.
In Options for Download Statusbar, Virus Scan tab
Anti-Virus program location: C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgscanx.exe
And I was told to use this argument: /scan=%file% /clean
Seems to work. Report visible for twenty seconds or so. No extraneous windows.

I also have tried to automatically scan downloaded files in download status bar, but my AVG 8.0 (free version) does not have a file called avgw, it only has avgwsc. Cn this be used instead?

Thanks Webdawg, I modified your batch file slightly:
First I created a text file in c:\ called avgreport.txt
then created a batch file in the avg folder called avgbatch.bat
which contains:
echo off
cd "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\"
cls
echo Scanning %1 >> c:\avgreport.txt
avgscanx.exe /scan=%1 /repappend=c:\avgreport.txt %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
pause
In the options for statusbar i made anti-virus location: C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\AVGBatch.bat
and my arguments were:
%1 /clean /pup /heur /arc
you can specify your own.
Scans my files, pauses at the dos prompt after scan and also records the results of my scan. You can remove the pause if you like and setup a shortcut to the avgreport.txt on your desktop.

Hey guys, I've been using this setup for a while now, only with AVG 12, and it seems to have just randomly stopped working. I didn't update AVG or Download Statusbar as far as I know. The DOS prompt that pops up says "invalid parameter". Anyone else having this problem? |
