You can have another path.

Just add this to your location;
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe
If you installed AVG somewhere els then just point the location to ashQuick.exe.
And %1 in your Arguments field.

To make the current version of AVG (7.5.467) scan the downloaded file, then close the window if nothing is found enter, "/SE /quit %1" as the argument without the quotes

Is there a way to make the AVG test result window close automatically, except when there is a virus? I use Avgw.exe with "/SE %1 /QUIT". The scan works fine but AVG scans a ton of folders and files instead of simply the one I downloaded. If I remove the "/QUIT" is works fine but the result window does not close automatically.
Any tips?
Thanks,
Zack

Please ignore my post above, I replied from the first page. Somehow I didn't see there was a page 2. Problem solved and I get a dunce award. Sorry for the mess.

I suggest anyone else to try this because the window closes on a clean scan, and stays open on a test infected scan. Use with avgw.exe in your AVG folder

This exe always opens the Window - The Parameter does not change anything.
Any Ideas?

Hi Guys,
I've found if you use the arguments "/SE /QUIT %1", in that order, the scan window will open, but no result will display if a virus isn't detected. If it's only one file to scan, then you'll just see a flash, if that.
Putting /QUIT after the %1 will cause AVG to do a full system scan.
Cheers, Ollie

I have just installed AVG 8.0 and cannot figure out how to configure download scan 1.1 to make it work. because there is not avgw.exe file. Any help would be appreciated as I have tried just about everything with no success. Thanks in advance, Carolyn

I actually think I found the proper argument. AVG's FAQ only gives a couple of program examples, but for dlstatusbar it should be this:
/scan=%1 ext=* /arc /clean
The "/clean" argument sets it so that it automatically cleans the files up (deletes) as well without any further action. Also it should automatically close unlike the older AVG versions.

Also it should automatically close unlike the older AVG versions. I looked at the AVG link that was posted above and found this string: %file% /clean I then tried the one that you mentioned. Both seemed to do the same thing. A dos window opens up and then quickly close, indicating that the command line scan is working. Since the files that I was downloading were clean that was all that I saw. I can only hope that if the scan finds something, the AVG will clean it up. Thanks for the help.

The new argument doesn't work.
A window dos window flashes up too fast to see what it says, but the scan results history shows no scan having taken place.
If you use /scan=%file% instead of /scan=%1 the dos window stays open a bit longer and shows a scan taking place, but it doesn't actually seem to scan the file (as evidenced in the scan history: Tested objects - 0, Infections - 0, Spyware - 0).
All of my tests were done with the EICAR test file.
