I got this for really one very grating, annoying reason: "Select All". Why in the world did the team decide we should need to use a submenu to get to Select All? And to have NO SELECT ALL WHATSOEVER when right-clicking the message list (aka thread pane)??!! So, I though this would do what I wanted, and it almost does, but not quite.
In order to put an item on a menu, you have to steal it from a different menu. So, I am able to steal one Select All from the Message Pane, but that's the only one to steal! So I have to choose whether I want to establish a Select All item for myself in the Edit menu, or the contextual menu.
It's still a great improvement and makes me very happy to be able to restore my Edit menu to a sane and happy state, but it would be even better if I could copy the menu item and then put it into multiple menus wherever I want. I could put Select All in *every menu*!! Ten times per menu!!! Yeah!!!!
So that's my suggestion. Unless there's already an extension like this, if so let me know. With the ability to move menu items into another menu without deleting them from the original, the power of this utility would double. Yes, double. We users could wield Ultimate Power and change the universe, for good or for evil. As a bonus, maybe this change would be really easy to make, though I don't know (but it seems like it would be fairly simple, compared to what you've already done). Just add a copy button!
Thanks!

Heh I agree, Ultimate Power sounds nice. Seriously though, I'm a little surprised that stealing selectall from the message pane works when you put it in the thread pane. But, I don't use thunderbird much so I wouldn't know. Copying a menuitem isn't necessarly easy. There's a different extension called compact menu that works by copying menuitems and it tends to cause a lot of compatibility problems with other extensions. A better option may be to wait until we get this extension able to edit submenus - then you could take the select all out of the submenu in the edit menu. Or, the MenuManipulator extension might do what you want, I don't know, I've never tried it with thunderbird forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=272717
