Menu editor is very useful extension but it works uncorrect with File menu. I have Mr.Tech Local Install 4.1. So in my file menu I have ... Save As Send Link --- Install Extensions Install Theme ... I can disable this "Install xxx" using Mr.Tech Local Install preference. But if I try to disable it with your extension then "Save as" disappears! The same result if I disable Send Link and either of two.

I just tried it with mrtech local install 4.2.2 and it works as expected. Maybe you need to reset your file menu - press the reset button in the menu editor options

I downloaded Mr.Tech Local install 4.2.3 and install it. Also I deinstall Menu Editor, delete menuedit.rdf and install Menu Editor again. And I still have this problem. I found one more interesting thing. My "File" menu (I have Russian Fx and not sure about English captions, because I just translate them): New window New tab Open file... Close window Close tab --- Save as... Send link... --- Install Extensions Install Theme --- Page Settings... Print Preview ....
But after edit with Menu Editor File contains: New window New tab Open file... Close window Close tab --- Open link... (Ctrl + L) (or Open address? I'm not sure what is it in English) ....
And there is no such menu item in "normal" menu!
After "Reset" I again have "Save As" (and all other hidden menu items too) and no Open Link...
Could you help me?

Have you been installing menu editor from addons.mozilla.org, or from the homepage menueditor.mozdev.org/ ? the version on mozdev is actually version 1.2.1 (although it still says 1.2) - the only change in this version was a fix for some problems when using non-english versions of firefox. You might give this version a try - you need to uninstall version 1.2 and delete menuedit.rdf first

Thank you! It seems that 1.2.1 works correct.
