When disabling and reenabling the addon, menus get garbled. It would be nice if there was a way to "save" menu settings so they would survive an addon disabling and reenabling.

While I agree that it would be better were the program to maintain its settings, there is a rather simple way of restoring them: In your Firefox profile, there is a file, menuedit.rdf.
As my backup program copies the Firefox profile every evening, I find it quite simple to replace the menuedit.file with yesterday's file if I need to disable the program during the day; doing so restores the Menu Editor settings that were valid as of 1730 local the previous day.
