Firefox 4.01 & Firefox Portable 4.01 under Windows XP.
Customize Menus appears on my Tools menu of the non-portable version. How did I get it there???
Ctrl+Shift+S invokes the Web Developer 'disable all CSS styles' function (happy me).
I upgraded the portable version to v4.01, added my addons, and Customize Menus was not on my Tools menu. I could not find a way to get it on the menu until I read about the settings being in menuedit.rdf in my profile directory.
I copied it from the profile directory for the non-portable version to the the profile directory for the portable version (after renaming the old file to menuedit.rdf_OLD). Customize Menus now appears on my Tools menu of the portable version.
But Ctrl+Shift+S invokes the Menu Editor instead of the Web Developer 'disable all CSS styles' function (UNhappy me).
I re-installed Web Developer, changed the shortcut key in Web Developer to something else and then back again, but the shortcut key insists on invoking Menu Editor.
Realizing that Web Developer had been installed in the non-portable version long before Menu Editor, I uninstalled both, installed Web Developer, then installed Menu Editor, and guess what - not only is the Ctrl+Shift+S fixed (invokes Web Developer), AND Customize Menus is now a Tools menu item. Even better, the menus are the way they were after setting them up before uninstalling Menu Editor. (Maybe menuedit.rdf_OLD being in the profile directory had something to do with it?)
In this case, Web Developer refuses to relinquish its shortcut key to subsequent addons (a rare occurrence). Maybe others whose Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut key was stolen by Menu Edit could get it back by uninstalling both addons and installing Menu Edit first - maybe Menu Edit relinquishes the shortcut key to later addons that want it (the more common behavior)...
