Download Status Bar works perfectly on all my other computers, but on this particular XP Home SP3 laptop, I just can't get Firefox to use it instead of Firefox's built-in downloader no matter what I do! I've been trying for a very long time. No downloads ever show up in the Firefox statusbar. Instead, all downloads use the default Firefox built-in downloader. It's as if DSB isn't even installed. Firefox->Tools->Options...->General->"Downloads"->"Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" is OFF. Is that correct? The addon is enabled with all default settings. I ensured that the Mode is set to "Mini". Here are my settings: I tried deleting the file: "downloads.sqlite" and I've ensured that "browser.download.manager.retention" is set to 2, but it still doesn't work. I also created a new Firefox profile, but I couldn't afford to lose all the contents of the old profile, so I copied the old contents to the new profile. If there is something specific I need to reset or recreate in the new profile, I need to know precisely what that is. I also tried uninstalling Download Statusbar and re-installing it, but that didn't help. I have the latest versions of everything, including all Microsoft updates and all Firefox addons. Windows: XP Home Edition SP3 Firefox: v3.6.8 Download Statusbar: V0.9.7 Please help!

Not an answer to your question but a similar problem I would love to have answered please. I love the new d/l bar but the old one keeps popping up too. I'd like to know how to adjust the settings so just the addon runs on the bar and not the Firefox default d/l window with it. Windows XP Pro/latest Firefox & Statusbar. Thank you LH

Does the developer or team of developers of Download Statusbar even read these? DSB is not working at all on that computer, which had Windows XP Home Premium freshly re-installed from scratch on it in order to try to solve this problem!
Can someone at least tell me whether the settings shown in the OP are appropriate or not?

Firefox->Tools->Options...->General->"Downloads"->"Show the Downloads window when downloading a file" is OFF. The addon is enabled with all default settings. Forgot to mention this in my own thread. Of course the Firefox settings are set not to open download menager.
